About Us

Nabana Lodge has been under new ownership since September 2020 by a local farming family. It has recently been renovated by the new owners, giving it a new look and feel. Set amongst banana plantations, Nabana Lodge is a tranquil haven with magnificent views over the eastern escarpment. Nabana Lodge is a household name not only to locals, but nationally, and no wonder as it is the second oldest business name listed in Hazyview. And the name?... The story goes that 4 young farmers explored the area around the fifties, decided to settle here and farm bananas. During lively debate, inspired by a fair amount of tippling, the name Nabana was settled upon. What then started as a farm, slowly expanded into the hospitality trade; during the eighties, a tea garden under umbrellas amongst the banana plants, later a pub under thatch and road side stall, leading to building up to the thatch and creating a restaurant and landscaping large subtropical gardens. By the third owner in the nineties, guest cottages were added, the fourth owner added the pool and deck. Here we are today, still going on with the historical name Nabana!
